Testimonial: Dana Lucia Angel Palacios

My experience in Vancouver has been awesome; since I arrived it has been perfect! I have met many people from different countries who are now are my friends, and I have been able to visit different places around British Columbia and Alberta like Victoria, Hope, Tofino and Banff. Also I can improve my English with an incredible process in EC because when I arrived six month ago I couldn`t speak, read or write anything! I consider my progress very successful. My plan for the future is to start studying at University and at the same time work in Vancouver.   —– Planning to come to Canada to improve your English skills? Find out how was Mabel’s experience in EC Vancouver!

Mabel was in Mexico three months ago when she decided to take a flight to Vancouver to learn English in Canada. Here is what he thinks about our English courses in Vancouver and her experience in Canada. I chose to study with EC English because of the system that they use, it seems to be the best one in order to get a high score in IELTS. There’s no other option where I can find any Higher Score system for IELTS preparation. There are many things that I liked about the teachers in EC but I would say that they are very friendly, because they are available to help every student at any time. Besides, EC teachers are very creative because they’re always looking for new ways to teach, giving us additional material to improve our English skills.   My best memories of EC are the great times when I met friends from all over the world, these people are going to be my friends forever because we shared incredible moments discovering Vancouver together. We went to Grouse Mountain, Lynn Canyon Park, Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve, Pacific Regional Park, and Burnaby Lake. In these places you can find peace and you will get in touch with nature. They’re great options for someone who loves hiking. On the other hand, if you are not interested in hiking but you really enjoy spending time in nature then I’m pretty sure that you will have an awesome time in Deep Cove, Stanley Park, Granville Island or the city of Victoria. You will find that there’s not enough time to discover all the beautiful places that Vancouver has for you because it’s a big city. To make the experience more enjoyable you will find polite people on the streets and you will not have to … Read more

Student Testimony – Guilherme Nocera

Guilherme Nocera is a student from Brazil and he has completed a 6-week English course at LSC/EC Vancouver. Why did you choose Vancouver to study English?  When I was finishing my Master’s Degree I had a friend and we decided to take a course together inCanada, because his brother had studied English at LSC Vancouver and he recommended it. How would you compare Vancouver with the other cities that you have been in Canada, such as Montreal and Toronto? In my opinionVancouver is the best. People there are very helpful. It is easier to take skytrain and buses inVancouver than other cities. Tell us about your homestay family… There were four people plus one student from Switzerlandin my homestay. It was perfect! When I arrived there, on February 25, they seemed very happy to have me as their family. We used to go to the gym twice a week together. While the parents exercised, their two sons and I practiced karate. It was like having a real family. What is the best thing about living in a homestay? Would you recommend this to other students that are planning to come to Canada? In a homestay, it is possible to improve listening more easily, so the homestay hosts work as a second teacher. Also the hosts know a lot about the city. They can tell us which buses to take and the places we should visit. It is very comfortable, and I recommend it. Tell us about your experience at LSC/ EC Vancouver My experience at LSC/ EC Vancouver was unbelievable. My English is much better than before and I made new friends from several parts of the world. The teachers also were very helpful, and the material was excellent.

A student testimonial of the week – Tatiana Makino

“When I was in VancouverI lived in a homestay with the best host family I could have. I had a host mother, a host father, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. I have no words to describe them.  They gave me all the support to make me feel great. I felt very happy and comfortable all the time as if I was a real member of their family. I spent Christmas, New Years and my birthday there. It was the first time that I wasn’t with my family and I was a little bit afraid because of this, but fortunately I had an unforgettable time with my host family. My host mom Agostina always made sure that I was doing well and asked if I was enjoying her house. When I was at home I liked talking to her about my life and my future plans because she always gave me good advice, not only about Vancouver, but about everything. She used to say this phrase: “If you never try, you will never know, right?” I will never forget this.  I will carry this thought all my life. Also, when I was at home I spent my free time playing with my brothers. I used to play “Barbie game” with my cute youngest sister and I played video games with my brother. Sometimes, my brothers, my roommates and I used to watch a movie all together. If I had to choose the best moment with them, I would choose my birthday. My mom bought a cake and some sushi and my sister made a chocolate cream by herself, SO CUTE! After dinner, we played a lot with a big balloon and I felt like a child. Before going to bed, we watched a movie with some popcorn, pizza, and cake. Those … Read more

Meet one of our hosts

Hello Everyone, I’ve been a host family for the past 7 years. The experience of having international students is remarkable and amazing. Learning about different cultures is a one-of-a-kind experience that no one could ever imagine without trying it. We enjoy so much watching them socialize with our little girls. Having them in our home helps us to teach our children about living in a mixed  society and with  them my kids learn so much about other nationalities and cultures. Our students are part of our family. Once they arrive we always make sure that they feel comfortable right a way. What I also like is I that I can learn about some different and authentic foods from their country and we make it together.  Sincerely,  Ylaine and family
