Sergio from Colombia: ”My decision to come to San Francisco was right!!!”

Sergio from Colombia was looking for a place to study English and he ended up opting for EC’s ESL School in San Francisco. He studied at EC for 12 weeks, where he took a general English course at first but he changed the course to Intensive Course at last to study more because he thought it would be a good opportunity for him. In addition to this, Sergio participated in a lot of activities organized by the school and he got to meet people from all around the world and to have amazing experiences. Here is what Sergio had to say:   I always wanted to have this experience of studying English abroad, and I had something clear in my mind of what I wanted: A city and a school where many things could be done for the time that I would be studying; a place with friendly people who tries well foreigners; and people with an opened mind, not only inside the school, but also outside in the city. After some researchs, EC San Francisco appeared as the best option for everything I needed. It was a surprise for me that EC took care of each student from the beginning of their process. I like the way the staff worries about giving you an enjoyable atmosphere all the time, even before the classes start, such as an introduction of the city on Sunday (Thank you Mayu!). Furthermore, it was rewarding to find teachers strive to make the classes entertaining and comfortable for each student. Thanks to that environment, it was easy to make friends from a lot of countries. I really enjoyed the time I spent with them, sharing life experiences, learning from their cultures and all the activities we did together. I could find something enjoyable every … Read more

Emma from Slovakia: ”I have more confidence to use English”

Emma, a student from Slovakia, was looking for a place to improve English and she ended up opting for EC’s ESL School in San Francisco. She studied at EC San Francisco for 6 weeks, where she quickly improved her English and met people from all around the world. Now she has much confidence to use English. Here is what Emma had to say:   Before I came here, I have had English classes in Slovakia for 12 years. When I came here, I was able to understand almost everything but I wasn’t able to speak and express my feelings. I came to EC San Francisco scared and determined to improve my English. I started in intermediate class. I had problems with speaking and using right grammar, so I focused on those points. After one week, I had more confidence about my English. My teachers were patient with what all students spoke. They tried to explain everything to everyone carefully. My exit test showed me that my level is still intermediate. However, I feel as if my English is 100 percent better than before. I met a lot of new people from different countries. I made many friends for life and now I know something interesting about some countries. EC San Francisco gave me the best experience of my life. What I like the most about EC SF is that the director and school ambassadors do the best for making good friendships between students. It doesn’t matter if you are from Colombia, Slovakia or Japan. It also doesn’t matter if you are young or older. Of course, there are some differences but we can be friends with anybody. Every week we could join free classes about California history and culture, writing and pronunciation. Almost every day, we had different activities … Read more

Miho from Japan

Miho from Japan: “I had wonderful memories with all my friends”

Miho, a student from Japan, was looking for a place to continue to study English and she ended up opting for EC’s ESL School in San Francisco. She studied at EC for four and half months after other school in San Francisco, where she improved her English and met people from all around the world. Here is what Miho had to say:   I often came to San Francisco to travel and stayed here for a few weeks because I wanted to improve my English skill, but it was not enough to learn English. I wanted to experience the local lifestyle during studying English in the USA. After that, I quit my job and I came here to improve more my English. I have stayed in San Francisco for one year and two months that was one of my dreams. San Francisco is an amazing city because there are many different cultural things in urban areas. On the other hand, if buses run in a few minutes, there are such beautiful parks and beaches. I went to the Baker Beach and then I took a photo of the Golden Gate Bridge that was a magnificent view!! I lived in the East Bay with my friend. Her husband is a native speaker. They always invited me to join a public holiday event of the USA with their family. I joined Trick-or-Treat of Halloween, Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas dinner and fireworks for 4th of July that were such great experiences for knowing various cultures of the USA. The atmosphere of the East Bay and the Bay Area including San Francisco is also different from my country, so I really enjoyed both of the areas. In addition, EC San Francisco is an amazing school because there are many wonderful teachers and staff. They … Read more
