EC Los Angeles 2019 Wrap-Up

2019 was another wonderful year for EC Los Angeles because we spent it with our amazing students! If you are interested in learning English in the United States, EC Los Angeles will not only offer you valuable courses but also take you to fun activities, making your experience unforgettable. Check out some of our 2019 activities to see why we love EC Los Angeles! ONLY IN LOS ANGELES Los Angeles owns the first Universal Studios theme park and the first Warner Bros. Studios, both of which are in the home of the U.S. film industry – Hollywood. For that reason, one of our favorite activities is to go to TV show tapings! In the past year, we went to live TV shows taping at Warner Bros. Studios and saw many celebrities in person. For example, Joey Tribbiani from FRIENDS always has live shows in Studio City. And guess what: The ticket to see him is free! Besides sitcom tapings, we also went to America’s Got Talent: The Champions. That night, former winners and finalists from 194 countries and regions gathered in LA to perform the best AGT show of the year. If you are a sports fan, you are going to love LA! Lakers and Clippers for NBA, Dodgers for baseball, Rams for football, LAFC for soccer…you name it! Earlier this year, we had an All-You-Can-Eat Dodgers Game with our students. If you love food and want to catch a home run ball, then you should join us next time! The other big game that attracts people from all over the world is the Lakers game. In October, we went to see Lakers vs. Warriors. LeBron James and Anthony Davis were there! Our students enjoyed a great time watching that intense game – only at EC Los Angeles ? Do … Read more

Christmas events and activities in Los Angeles

Though Christmas is at the end of December, the holiday season starts as early as November in Los Angeles. As one of the top fashion capitals, L.A. has already dressed up in gorgeous decorations to welcome this fancy time of the year. These are some of our favorites spots.   RODEO DRIVE AND BEVERLY HILLS If you love fashion, you must know the world-famous shopping street. “Luxurious” is a word made for this place, but it is good enough of an experience to just walk around the fabulous stores – you may even run into celebrities who live in Beverly Hills! If you haven’t been there, Christmas is a perfect time to visit. Last week some of our students really enjoy our free walking tour around Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive. LA ZOO LIGHTS Enjoy a wild wonderland of light attending to this ticketed event at Los Angeles Zoo. Millions of colorful lights decorate a huge area surrounded by nature: Giant glittering snowflakes, Christmas trees, and the world’s largest illuminated pop-up storybook. A must-do Christmas attraction in California.   DISNEYLAND RESORT Can you imagine how the Happiest Place on Earth looks like in the happiest time of the year? If not, how do “300 Christmas trees”, “400,000 twinkling lights”, and “36 cast members decorating for 35 days” sound like? Amazing, right? You can always visit Disneyland in regular days, but this time, Mickey Mouse and his friends will be greeting you under mistletoes – that makes Christmas more magically beautiful! UNIVERSAL STUDIOS HOLLYWOOD This famous theme park is not only the place where you can ride Transformers, The Mummy or Jurassic World attractions but also a place where you can create new Holiday traditions with friends and other students. With thousands of Christmas lights and many characters meet & greets, Universal Studios Hollywood offers … Read more

Lakers game – EC Los Angeles Activity

Happy Tuesday!   If you are a sports lover, LA will be the perfect option for you. In LA, we have a lot of good sports teams, such as Dodgers, Angeles for the baseball, LAFC for soccer, and other college teams are fun to watch as well. However, probably the most popular team of all is the “LA Lakers”. One day in October, we went to see the Lakers game as one of our activities. NBA games around this year are called Preseason games. These games usually occur in late September at the beginning of October. Each team generally plays around six games at this time, and these games aren’t really part of their game status. However, it is a very good opportunity to see the new players, and sometimes the star players.         On the day of the game, it was lakers pride night. The Lakers celebrated diversity, inclusion, and unity by hosting members and supporters from the LGBTQ community. Students were lucky, they got the Lakers Pride Night Unity LED bracelet:) Moreover, star players usually don’t really play at the preseason games, but Lebron James and Anthony Davis played at the game.   Students were really happy to see the star players and enjoyed the atmosphere of the NBA games.   EC Los Angeles does not only offer fun activities but offers great english courses in los angeles. Sneak peak of October Activity Calendar

October is here and we are very excited to announce our new EC Activity Calendar:   In Japan, there are several expressions for autumn such as Fall is the best season for eating, Fall is the best season for sports, Fall is the best season for Arts, etc. The reason people started using that expression has a long history, but mostly because Japan has four seasons and enjoys different things depending on the season. Although seasons in the US are not a distinct season as Japan, Japanese people have a good point that there are many things that we can enjoy in the fall.   Sports One of our popular activities among the students, sports! In EC Los Angeles, we have a variety of sports activities. Basketball, we started as our official activity since September and students are loving it so we decided to run the activity this month as well. Don’t worry even though you are not good at it our it is your first time playing basketball, because one of our staff, Tika is a basketball coach so she will make you as a better and the best player:) Yoga at the beach is the new activity that we started this year, it is super relaxing and good for student’s health. Soccer, no need to say but it’s very fun and we also play near the beach. One of our biggest events this month,… watching NBA games!!! Do you know the NBA team for Los Angeles? Yes, The LA Lakers. Come join us if you would like to watch the Lakers game!   In-School Activity Yes, we know, for those of you who would like to stay inside, we have some activities for you too! Trivia Party and Boardgame party will be a great activity for students who want … Read more

Photography workshop at EC Los Angeles

At EC Los Angeles, in addition to teaching English, some teachers like to share their passions with their students. Like our great teacher Nita, who took her Intermediate class out on a photography workshop around the school and the beach. Students learned how to take great pictures and added new words, such as shade, open shade, portrait, landscape, pop, flat, full body shot, ¾ shot, patterns, breaking of lines, to their vocabulary. Here are some “behind the scenes” shots:   But students didn’t only learn how to take picture, they also learned how to pose. Here’s a tip, if you’re taking a group picture and there’s too many people and you don’t want them to look like a soccer team 😀 , tell them to turn just a little, they’ll have more space and look more natural 🙂 :         You can check out the final results in our Instagram account: ec_los_angeles and make sure to follow us!       If you want to Study English in LA AND have fun, EC Los Angeles is the right school for you, come see us or visit our website! Have a nice Weekend!!
