Welcome Julie – EC Cambridge

Hi everyone! My name is Julie and as you have already noticed (I hope so) I am the new intern (who is sitting next to Mike!) The internship is part of my studies in Marketing and Management at the IAE of Grenoble (France). At the end of the year, I will start my Master in Marketing. I chose EC Cambridge because I thought it is an opportunity to travel around the UK and meet people from different cultures – and so far I think I made the right choice

Homestay at EC Cambridge

If you are thinking about studying on an English Language Course in Cambridge, there are so many things to think about. Which school? Which Course? How long should I book? Do I want accommodation? Well today, we are looking at the last one of those questions. To be honest picking the right accommodation is so important, so we like to recommend the Homestay. Homestay is where you live with a family within the city of Cambridge. The idea is that you are treated as part of the family. So they will provide meals and give you plenty of opportunities to speak to you so you can practice your English. We regularly check our families and ask for feedback from our students to make sure all of our host families are at the best standard! If you want more information, check out our website or if you are local, pop in!

Trash Fashion – Week 6

The big Monday night welcome party in Week 6 was Trash Fashion, a chance for all of the new students to be able to show what they can do in the fashion world, in terms of design and catwalk skills! How did they do? I think these photos show some excellent designs, as well as some rather strange ones…

Oscar Night and Farewell

Friday Night saw the EC Junior Programme’s very own Oscars Night. With awards up for grabs like, King of Cool, Queen of Cool, Next World Leader and Best Dressed Student, there was a storm of students campaigning for votes from fellow students. Prizes included the famous Cambridge University Mugs, filled with sweets and handmade fudge. The winners were also to be presented with their very own Oscar statue. In a hard fought battle Beslan claimed King of Cool, Aleksandra claimed Queen of Cool, Elizaveta claimed Best Dressed Student, and Rashid was announced the Next World Leader. Aswell as the Oscar’s awards the party was also a chance for everyone to say their goodbyes to the students leaving on Saturday, we wish all our leavers the best for the future!

Game’s Night

Monday evening saw the construction of some weird and wonderful structures by EC Cambridge Junior Students. The object of this game was to construct something out of newspaper, cups and celetape that could hold an egg as high off the ground as possible. The winning team created an amazing, triangular based structure that held the egg a little over 7 feet off the ground! See below!   After this challenge the teams started the SPEED MUMMY CHALLENGE. Where the objective was to create an original mummy in the quickest time with nothing but paper. We saw some great entries from the teams, see their hard work below: Game’s complete the students headed off home in celebration, ready for another day at the EC Cambridge Junior Summer Programme. Cambridge University Mugs were given out as prizes! The highly valued objects are difficult to obtain in Cambridge due to their demand and popularity. Tune in next time for another update on the 2011 Junior Summer Programme.
