What’s on over the August Bank Holiday Weekend at EC Cambridge

Monday 25th August is a Bank Holiday in England and EC Cambridge will be closed. As you know, as well as your General and Intensive English Courses we like to offer our students a range of activities and excursions. On Monday we have a trip to Notting Hill Carnival in London. The carnival is a celebration of life and colour based loosely on the famous Brazilian Carnival. The carnival is on all weekend so if you fancy something a little different and a good party atmosphere why not head down to London and join in with the festivities! If you want more information, speak to Mike or checkout the official website!

General English Courses at EC Cambridge

If you are looking for a General English Course, look no further than EC Cambridge. We offer classes to cater for all levels and student needs. General English is made up of 20 lessons per week. Each lesson is 45 minutes so study time is three hours per day Monday – Friday. The class is split into two sections with two teachers. Teacher A teaches you Monday, Wednesday and Friday. They follow a course book and cover grammar and vocabulary. Teacher B teaches on a Tuesday and Thursday and focuses more on the skills, speaking, reading, listening and writing. With this method, students cover all parts of the English Language and their level improves overall and not just in one skill or one area. If you want more information about this, check out our website.

Arno Shares his thoughts on EC Cambridge

Thanks Arno for this great testimonial on our Junior Programme 2014 I choose this destination because Cambridge is well-known for the University, so I thought it has to be a good school. I improved my English, especially vocabulary and speaking. I liked all activities but it was bad that they were the same all 2 weeks. I liked the most that we made many speaking activities. Yes, I would EC recommend to a friend. My new friends are from all over the world. I liked the most about the social leaders, that it was a young team. I will remember my friends, activities, teacher, social leaders and my girlfriend.

General English Courses at EC Cambridge – Here is Tuana’s Opinion!

Our Junior Summer Courses are coming to an end for this year, so here Tuana Shares her experience of a General English Course at our Junior Centre. I always wanted to visit Cambridge, so EC was a perfect idea. I learned to be polite, to make friends and stay calm. I improved my English. EC helped a lot. My favourite EC activity was canoeing, because it was really enjoyable. The teachers were so friendly and kind. The lessons were never boring. We always did some nice activities. The residence was really comfortable. I had lovely roommates. If you want to learn English and make friends, I strongly recommend EC. I had friends from Poland, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Mexico. The social leaders behaved like our friends. They were so nice. I won`t forget anything.

Clara Bosquelle tells us about her experience at EC Cambridge.

Clara has been studying on the Junior Intensive English Course for 6 weeks. Here she tells us about her experience at EC Cambridge. I chose Cambridge because its not as busy and a very big city like London. The city looked peaceful and lots of young people and its true. I improved a lot my vocabulary, grammar and my communication. It was a really amazing experience. My favourite EC activity is Punting because its traditional to Cambridge. I love to communicate with students from all around the world, discover new cultures. At school I like speaking activities for example. I moved to EC residence and it was great, my social leader Alice was the best and she was extremely friendly, lovely and nice. I made new friends from Switzerland, Germany, Brazil, Italy, Poland, Russia, Spain, Turkey and Belgium. All the social leaders are helpful and lovely. Finally this experience was unforgettable, amazing, unbelievable and I will have very positive memories of this stay!

Junior EC Cambridge – Martin Blaha tells us about his experience at EC Cambridge

Martin Blaha from the Czech Republic, returned to EC Cambridge for the fourth time this year! He studied on the Junior General English Course at our Junior Summer School. Here he tells us a little about his experience at EC Cambridge! When I visited Cambridge for the first time, I had so much fun. I enjoyed my time here so much that I decided to return the next year and I was coming back every year! This was my fourth time in Cambridge and the school has kept its quality. The teachers are still great, the social leaders still funny and the food, still British. During my four years in Cambridge, my English speaking skills have improved drastically. I came here for speaking especially and that’s improved the most. I’m 90% sure, I will come back again next year!
