Alex, Ziyad and Marta, student from our EC Bristol’s English Grammar class, have written a short story about a Colombian student. There was a lonely boy who had been named Sebastian. He had looked for a new name. He had been asking people for ideas and the result was Santiago. After a few weeks, he loved his name and became the ‘Shakamaka’. He was happy for the rest of his life.
Firstly, I would like to say that there are two kinds of people who live in Bristol; one of them is people who live in Bristol and the other is people who are Bristolian at heart. I mean, if you are a person who lives in Bristol, like me, you must be open-minded, friendly and enjoy spending time with people from Bristol or other parts of the world. That really doesn’t matter because this amazing city is a mini paradise even when it is raining all day long! Furthermore, it is so nice because of the people. First, at EC Bristol school, we have extraordinary teachers, receptionists and an awesome Spanish accommodation department. We came here to learn but also between us we play the role as teachers. I’ve learned more culture in four weeks than in twenty-one years in my whole life. My host family is incredible, they accepted me as one more member of the family. Definitely, I recommend this place. My time is almost over and I know that I’m gonna miss a lot of things. However, I will keep in my heart these people and this city for all of my life. Studying English at EC was a good choice for me. As I compare my English as it is now to before I came to the UK, it has improved dramatically. When I was in Japan, I only knew English grammar and easy vocabulary. After my first exam, I recognized that my English was terribly limited. However, my teachers helped me and showed me how to study and enjoy it. In many of our lessons we played games, that’s why the lessons were really interesting. Moreover, the school’s activities were quite helpful for me. When I joined ‘the international food party’ with my friends we cooked our traditional food in our country and shared it with the other students. At that time, I was talking with a lot of different nationalities. Usually, I am quite shy and I find it difficult to talk to other people but after that activity I made many friends and felt very comfortable in the school. Although it is believed by many that EC’s tuition is quite expensive, it is worth paying it as you can learn good English and enjoy your life in the UK. I have chosen Bristol because Boa Lingua advised me to, and London is overcrowded for me. I received a warm welcome when I arrived. Every teachers, staff members and students put themselves at your disposal if you need some help. They all want to see you smile. The lessons are focused on speaking and interaction with each other. I really enjoyed it. EC Bristol isn’t just a simple school, it offers also a lot of cultural activities in addition to the lessons. It’s during this time that I really improved my English because I could meet new people from all over the world. I made the acquaintance of people from Spain, Japan and Colombia. This way we could share our manners and customs and it’s really interesting. I would recommend EC Bristol to my friends. I will remember all the great time spent with my friends who made me laugh. I hope I’ll come back in Bristol. EC Bristol offers different kind of English courses. This is my second time in Bristol! I love this city very much because it isn’t too big and for this reason I chose this destination. I stay in Bristol for two weeks and I chose to stay in a homestay because I think that’s better to improve the language and you can also see the English life! My family is very good, they’re gentle and funny and they have a big and beautiful house. My room is small but I love it very much. I live with another student who studies at the same school as me. She’s friendly and every morning we take the bus together. We are 25 minutes far from the centre but it isn’t a problem. EC School is very good. The lessons are very funny because the teachers are friendly and we do funny things. I knew many of new people from different countries (like Colombia, Italy, Spain, France, etc.) I recommend this school to the people that want to learn English. I love EC School! EC Bristol school is located right in the centre of Bristol. Hi there, I’m Chris! That’s the first thing I’ve been saying to complete strangers I’ve been meeting during the week here at EC Bristol. Now after one week many of those people have familiar faces, some of them have even become my friends, YAY! Now, about the city… It’s just great! So many things to do, so many places to go, so many sheep to see! I simply love the feeling that this city gives me. Many little independent shops, amazing graffiti everywhere (I even found a few Banksy!), some great museums and really amazing landmarks. What about EC’s activities? I really love them. The last one I did was a great trip to Cheddar (you know, the place where they make the famous cheese), to Wells (apparently England’s smallest city) and Glastonbury (there is an amazing sight of the area from the top of the tor’s hill). Conclusion I really, really like every single thing here; the people I’m meeting, the city and its gorgeous graffiti, the school and the activities with it…Just everything! 80 sheep out of 80 that’s my final verdict
We all wanted to aim high… so we walked together to the climbing centre. Everybody was excited about this afternoon. For some it was the first time, and for others it was routine, but for all of us it was unbelievable that the climbing hall was a church! We had a good instructor, who explained what to do and then we could try it ourselves and test our limits. We secured each other in pairs and after we climbed without ropes or anything else! It was fun! Find out more about English classes in Bristol.
